Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 17, 2025
At MailSieve, the security and privacy of your data are our highest priorities. This policy outlines our practices regarding data for both our desktop application and our website.
Part 1: MailSieve Desktop Application
A Local-First Approach
MailSieve is a desktop application that runs entirely on your local computer. Unlike cloud-based services, our software does not require an internet connection to function and never uploads your email data to external servers.
- Local Processing: All processing of your email archives (PST, OLM, CSV files, etc.) happens directly on your machine. Your files are never transmitted over the internet.
- No Cloud Storage: We do not host or store any of the content of your email files. Your information remains within the confines of your computer's hard drive.
- Complete Privacy: Since your email archives are never sent to us, we cannot access, view, or share their content. This guarantees that your sensitive contact information remains completely private and secure.
Part 2: Passively Collected Data (Server Logs)
This website does not actively collect any personal data (such as names or email addresses) via forms.
However, like most websites, our web host (Amazon Web Services) records "logs" when you visit. These logs may include your IP address, the time of your visit, your browser type, and the pages you viewed.
The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest (in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). This legitimate interest is to ensure the security of our website (e.g., to prevent attacks) and to analyze anonymized visitor statistics to improve our service.
You retain your rights (access, erasure) over this data. To exercise them, you may contact us at the address provided in our Legal Notice.
Cookie Policy
Our website uses only essential technical cookies necessary for its basic operation, such as managing your language preference. We do not use any tracking or advertising cookies.
It is critical to understand that the information processed locally by our desktop application is never linked to the passive data collected by our website's server logs.
